Popular Questions

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • What are your business hours?

    Monday - Saturday 7am - 5pm

  • What Areas Will You Travel To For Work?

Depending on the size of the job, the availability on our schedule, and the required time to complete the job factors into how far we will travel. Our main area of operation is Boston, MA, and greater Boston surrounding areas. Southern New Hampshire is a common area we do work in also. We try not to travel too far into western MA. Yet again it depends on the job. Not every job is created equally even tho the quality of the work is always second to none.

  • Are There Any Types Of Jobs That Require a Longer Lead Time?

Yes. Windows can have a 6 - 10 week lead time depending on the size of the window, who is supplying the window, and availability. As far as Permits each town is different. After the start of covid most permits are done online. There is really no method to the madness. Sometimes they are quick, sometimes they can take up to a week. Lately obtaining permits has not been an issue and has not delayed any projected work

  • Is There A Deposit Required?

There is a 100$ deposit which is paid after the estimate is signed by the customer. Once work has started the 100$ deposit will go towards the cost of the job. Typically payments are broken down into 3 parts (depending on job cost and length of the job). The first payment will be for the cost of all the materials which is due before work can be started (estimates on materials are good for 14 days only). Prices on materials fluctuate like crazy right now and we can only guarantee and honor prices on materials for 14 days. After 14 days a re-assessment will be done on the cost of materials. The second payment will be for half of the remaining balance and is due on the first Friday after work has started. The final payment is due upon completion of the scope of work. *On larger jobs typically deposit and materials payments stay the same but the remainder may be broken up into more than just two payments. This can also be negotiated between Jeff & the home/business owner.

  • What Payment Methods Do You Except

Of course, cash is always king but typically most of our customers pay us with a check. We also occasionally accept credit cards, venmo, cash app, and zell. We do NOT accept pay pal. We also offer financing. PLEASE EXPECT TO HAVE PAYMENT READY WHEN JOB IS COMPLETET. We have had past troubles with large companies asking to contact "accounts payable. " We expect whoever contacts us to schedule work & whoever signs the contract to have payments ready on the day of what is stated in the contract and a final check due on the day of work completion. Any payments over a week late will be subject to additional fees.

  • Does Your Team Keep Clean and What Are You Doing To Stay Safe With Covid-19?

All of our team members regularly wash their hands and masks and hand sanitizer is present on every job site. Masks can be worn upon customers' request ( we usually wear them unless you say so otherwise) Our crew is encouraged to get vaccinated but is NOT mandated to do so to work for McKinnon Painting & Carpentry. We believe being vaccinated is a CHOICE and this is a free country. Our rule is any team member who feels sick is instructed to tell the foreman before they show up to work and or if a team member becomes sick on the job site the foreman will assess the situation and send the crew member home if needed. We take Covid-19 very seriously and we are continuously following CDC guidelines.
